The CUPRA Born has been awarded the coveted title of What Car? Best Small Electric Car in 2022 – even before its official UK launch.

Interior & Technology

It’s a real tech-fest inside the CUPRA Born. There's a large central screen which controls all of the car’s major functions. Not only do you find media and navigation functions here, but you’ll also adjust your climate control and temperature here too. Ahead of the driver there’s a secondary screen which relays key information such as speed and range back to whoever is behind the wheel. The drivers seating position and high-quality lumbar-support bucket seats leaves you feeling relaxed behind the wheel. So sit back, relax and enjoy the thrilling ride.

As we’ve already mentioned, the Born’s cabin features loads of technology. It’s centred around a 10-inch touchscreen display which houses all of your major functions and is supplemented by a 5.3-inch screen ahead of the driver. All the electric Born models come with a 12.0in touchscreen infotainment system with sat-nav and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone mirroring, so you have everything at your fingertips.

Exterior & Performance

If you’re after a striking-looking EV, then go no further than the CUPRA Born. It’s packed with loads of eye-catching features, from the intricate alloy wheels to the full-width light bar at the rear of the car and beautiful ceremony lights to greet you when you come to your vehicle. The nose of the car is particularly striking, while there are plenty of copper elements dotted across the exterior of the Born - a real CUPRA hallmark.

A particular highlight of the CUPRA is the bonnet curving down into the grille, giving the car a purposeful stance. The lower grille has sharp lines and wedges, with copper trim pieces that contrast nicely with the car’s paint.

There are plenty of options when it comes to powertrains for the Born. The range of this Electric Car starts at 211 miles, going up to a very impressive 335 miles with the largest battery. You can get a 148bhp motor linked to a 45kWh battery for a range of up to 211 miles, or there’s a top-spec version with 228bhp, a 77kWh battery and a 335 mile range. In the middle sits a version with a 58kWh battery and the option of either a 201 or 228bhp motor.
