If you are in the market for an SUV, you can’t go wrong with a used Honda CR-V "Comfortable Runabout Vehicle", considering it combines the reliability and excellent build quality of Honda, with the spaciousness and elevated driving position of an SUV.
Honda's CR-V, or “Comfortable Runabout Vehicle” has been reliably serving its owners since 1995 and was one of the first compact SUVs for sale when the first generation arrived. Since then it has transitioned across multiple generations, with the introduction of a hybrid variant in its fifth generation, arriving in 2018.
You’ll find the newer used models of CR-V come in five grades: S, SE, SR and EX with the SE and SR trims offering 7-seat configurations.
Choose a used Honda CR-V SE and you’ll find it come with plenty of really useful features including rear parking sensors and camera; go up to the SR and you’ll gain xenon headlights. Go for the top-spec Honda CR-V EX* and you’ll be truly spoilt with a powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof and full leather upholstery.
Honda’s CR-V tends to go under the radar when it comes to off-roading, but it really shouldn’t as with all-wheel-drive fitted, it’s able to achieve impressive traction and plough through rough terrain. If you don’t need to go off-road, then choose one of the 2-wheel drive models which give all the benefits of a 4x4 SUV, but with greater fuel efficiency, perfect for a family car that won’t be venturing far off-road.
The Honda CR-V is a pretty practical ride and excels with its 7-seat capacity for its petrol variant which makes it the perfect family car, plus for anyone towing a caravan, the CR-V ranks highly. With a class-leading boot and fold-flat rear seats which can be dropped via handles in the boot, you’ll find plenty of room on offer for those times when you need to transport everything.Safety is a top priority in the Honda CR-V. It’s curved side mirrors help to reduce the driver’s blind spots and contribute to its Euro NCAP five-star rating.
Since 2018, Honda has done away with its traditionally popular diesel-powered CR-V, and instead chosen to offer the CR-V with a 1.5-litre petrol or hybrid engine. However, used diesel models are still available on the used car market for earlier generations of the CR-V.
The CR-V Hybrid is Honda’s first electrified SUV, and aims to offer a good mix of efficiency and performance. Unfortunately, with the room taken up by the batteries in the latest hybrid variant, a seven seater hybrid is not an option.
