The Motability Scheme is a government-backed programme that helps people with disabilities to stay mobile and independent. It offers a wide range of leasing options for cars, wheelchairs, and scooters that can be adapted to individual needs.
To be eligible for the Motability Scheme, you must receive a qualifying mobility allowance, such as the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), the enhanced rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP). If you are based in the North West and meet this criteria, you can lease a vehicle or wheelchair through the Scheme for three years, before returning it for a replacement.
