Electric cars have been growing in popularity and the Motability Scheme offers a great way to exchange your mobility allowance for an electric vehicle.
We have a wide range of EV Motability cars available at a range of advance payments to suit you and your budget. This video shows you the range of Swansway Motability offers on EVs for April - June 2025.
With a HUGE range of vehicles available at a range of advanced payments, you will be able to find the right vehicle for you!

EVs offer a whole host of benefits to Motability Scheme customers, let’s take a look at these:

Our EV brands are constantly growing as we acquire new sites and our manufacturer partners release new electric cars. We currently provide Motability electric cars at 9 sites across 4 different car brands:
We understand that changing to an EV is a big decision that takes time! You’ll need to consider if you are able to have a home charger, if the range is suitable for your driving habits and other things before you make that jump. Let’s take a look at stories from other Motability customers who have made the decision to help you make up your mind.
Hear what Motability customers like about their electric vehicles including the freedom that they represent and the features available.
These customer discussions took place on the London to Brighton Electric Vehicle Rally and really help to explain the EV driving experience and how they’ve found the experience of leasing an electric vehicle on the Motability Scheme.
Light steering and technology such as lane-keeping assist and cruise control are standard features on many electric cars which are hugely beneficial to our Motability users.
Servicing, insurance and breakdown cover are all included in the lease and on top of this, Motability want to make the switch to an electric car as easy and accessible as possible which includes support with charging and adaptations.
There are lots of differences to consider when making the switch to a motability EV; the lack of noise from an EV, the additional driver data available and the vehicle range and charging capabilities.
Motability customers discuss regenerative braking and the use of just one foot in the driving experience as all electric cars are automatic. Regenerative braking is where the kinetic energy of the car is converted into electrical energy when the brake pedal is pressed to be stored in the battery - a great way to add range back into the car on the go!
Learn about how using different features of the car, such as the heated windscreen, wipers and air-con, affect the battery life.
Smooth driving conditions in an electric vehicle are a highlight of the London to Brighton EV Rally which may come as a surprise to some customers!
They also discuss the usage of EVs across long journeys and city driving and how electric vehicles are equally suited to these.
Learn about how the Motability Scheme supports customers with charging in the form of a free of charge home charging point installed as part of your Motability lease.
If you are unable to have a home charging point, for example if you have no off road parking, the scheme can still help you understand the charging infrastructure around you and how to access this.
Understand how to use a public charger and hear a review from a Motability customer on how he found the process of charging in public.
An Ohme representative explains the charger installation process and engineer visit and that representatives support via phone, email and to ensure you are happy with your new charger.
One customer explains that they set their car to charge under the cheaper tariff and have seen significantly reduced fuel/charging costs since switching from a petrol/diesel vehicle.
Nervous about the switch to a Motability electric vehicle? You aren’t alone! We understand that the move towards electric brings a lot of questions and we are here to help!
In this video, Motability customers discuss specific challenges around charging and the accessibility of charging infrastructure.
Motability have worked with OZEV to develop universal guidelines that charge point operators can use when designing charge points to ensure they are accessible.
New service, tools and products should be accessible to all and Motability are constantly working to bring electric vehicle accessibility to its customers.
Customers in this video discuss whether they are ready to make the switch to an electric car and some of the things that need to be considered when making that decision.
It’s really important to check that an electric vehicle fits in with your lifestyle, many customers have questions around the range and the weight of charging plugs which are important to feel confident with before making any big decisions.
See how a push and pull brake works on an electric vehicle showing that adaptations are perfectly possible when selecting an EV as your next Motability lease car.
Our Motability dealerships will be happy to help you explore your options and make the right decision for you!
Many customers worry that the adaptations they require won’t be compatible with an EV or will affect the range or performance of their electric vehicle; this video helps to dispel these myths.
The push pull brake accelerator is used to operate brakes with hands rather than feet, this is perfectly compatible with an EV meaning customers using this control have the freedom to choose electric if it fits in with other areas of their life.
A boot hoist has also been fitted to the vehicle in the video which works perfectly. The main thing to remember with this adaptation is that the engine needs to be off which is easier to check with a petrol or diesel vehicle as the engine is nosier and therefore more obvious when on. With an EV, as the engine is so much quieter, please check the engine is definitely off before activating the hoist!
If you are unsure whether the specific adaptations you use on your Motability car are compatible with an EV, please speak to your local adaptations installer who will be able to advise you for definite.
‘Go Charge’ gives you access to over 58.000 public chargepoints from over 40 different chargepoint operators which is over half of all chargepoints in the UK!
The app gives you free access to check which chargepoints are available in real time, which can be filtered by connector type and speed, track your charge costs and habits, control your charging sessions remotely and access live support for any charging or payment options.
Charging your EV in public can feel a bit daunting when you haven’t done it before, this video talks you through step by step instructions for using charging points on the go and making sure your car is connected to the charger and how to pay; knowledge is power!
Once you’ve decided you are ready to make the switch to an electric vehicle on the Motability scheme, why not visit a dealership and our Motability Specialists would be delighted to help you explore the range and how your preferred model fits in with your lifestyle!
