Motability Scheme Good Condition Payment

If you return your Motability vehicle in a good condition, you could be eligible to receive the Motability Scheme's Good Condition Bonus.

The amount you receive depends on the length of the agreement: it's currently £600 for a three-year lease and £900 for a five-year lease. There are a few things you can do throughout the lease of your vehicle to make sure your car performs at its best and stays in good condition. Servicing is included in the Motability lease package and its important to make sure you vehicle goes in for servicing when we send out service requests.

How can I qualify for the Motability Good Condition Payment (GCP)?

Here are the simple steps you need to follow to be able qualify for the Motability GCP:

  • Complete the full lease
  • Return your vehicle in good condition - including regular servicing which is all covered by your Motability lease and any repairs before you hand your car back
  • Have a valid MOT (UK mainland)
  • Return all of the high value items which came with your Motability vehicle:

    • Two sets of keys
    • Parcel shelf
    • Charging cable if you have an electric vehicle
  • Settle any outstanding debts/charges related to your car such as speeding ticket fines, stopped allowances in arrears, unpaid recovery costs and hire car fines.

In between services, it’s important to carry out the following checks regularly:

  • Paintwork - Keep you vehicle clean and wash regularly to maintain its paintwork
  • Lights - check they are clean and working properly
  • Levels - Keep an eye on the levels of the following fluids and top up when necessary:
  • Engine oil level
  • Windscreen washer fluid level
  • Engine Coolant level
  • Tyres (including your spare) - Check they’re at the recommended pressure and are not worn below the legal limit of 1.6mm or showing bulges and blisters

It's important to note, you should also:

  • Ensure all faults found on your Motability Vehicle are checked out and fixed as soon as possible to avoid further damage
  • Respond to any manufacturer recalls eg if a faulty part needs replacing
