The Origin of the Volkswagen California

In August 2003, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles launched the VW California with a design based on the Volkswagen Transporter. The Volkswagen California range evolved in 2007 with the introduction of an all-new California Beach model featuring a pop-top bed.The California Campervan offers the perfect combination of attractive exterior and interior comfort. 2019 saw the launch of the VW T6.1 California. The all-new California is available in two trim levels; Coast, and the top-of-the-range Ocean. The Beach trim level was discontinued when the all-new VW T6.1 California was launched in 2019. Both of the trim levels feature a range of driver aids, including electrically power-assisted steering (EPAS), six airbags, lane-keeping assist, plus automatic parking, to name just a few. The top of the range Ocean trim now has an electro-hydraulic pop-up roof to replace the manual system which remains in the Coast trim level.
