The Latest Addition to the BYD Range

The BYD SEAL 6 DM-i is a stunning and city-friendly plug-in hybrid hatchback that comes in both a sleek Saloon and practical Touring body style. How it Performs

The BYD Seal 6 DM-i delivers a surprisingly strong and efficient performance thanks to its Super Hybrid “Dual Mode” drive system. In both the Saloon and Touring variants, it accelerates from 0-62 mph in around 8.5 seconds (dependent on trim). The top speed is 112 mph, giving it enough pace for most driving scenarios. Power output ranges from 135 kW (Boost) to 156 kW (Comfort), depending on the model. Overall, the Seal 6 DM‑i balances strong hybrid power and good acceleration with very efficient fuel use, giving you EV-style driving in the city and long‑range flexibility on the motorway. It will also give drivers:

  • The system delivers 135 kW (Boost) or 156 kW (Comfort) of total power

  • The electric motor produces 300 of torque, giving it solid low‑end pull

  • In acceleration, it does 0-62 mph in 8.5 s for the Comfort trim, and 8.9 s for the Boost (dependent on body style)

  • Efficiency is very good: WLTP‑combined fuel consumption is 58.9 mpg for the higher‑power Comfort and 64.2 mpg for Boost

New SEAL 6 Interior

The interior of the BYD Seal 6 DM‑i combines modern design with practical comfort. The cabin features flowing, sculpted lines that give a seamless, immersive feel. Higher-spec models come with a 15.6‑inch ultra-thin floating touchscreen, while base trims use a 12.8‑inch screen, both supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The seats are wrapped in vegan leather, and on the Comfort trim they are power-adjustable, ventilated, heated, and support memory settings, also drivers get a smart steering wheel with optimised buttons and a clean electronic gear selector. In the rear, there’s surprisingly generous legroom and a flat floor, making it feel more spacious than you’d expect for a car of this class. Adding to the premium feel, the Comfort trim includes a full panoramic sunroof and multi-coloured ambient lighting. Overall, the interior balances EV‑style high-tech touches with family-friendly practicality and comfort.

BYD’s trim levels are simple, its widely known that the Chinese manufacturer makes their trim levels easy for people to grasp with them being in alphabetical order - Active, Boost, Comfort & Design. Their Active model is the most budget friendly, a base car with all the essential features a road user would need in their SEAL 6. Going through to Design, this trim offers varying enhanced features and adopts a much more premium feel to that of BYD’s Active edition.

The ideology from the Chinese firm is that they want to capture their customers and offer a model that can suit differing requirements, budgets and preferences. A feature which their middle of the road variant, Comfort possesses is a panoramic sunroof and heated seats - something that is only included in the Design as well as the afore mentioned, Comfort. With that being said however, the BYD SEAL 6 DM-i is set to come in two trim levels, Boost and Comfort.

The Boost trim of the BYD SEAL 6 comes well-equipped with a generous range of features designed for comfort, convenience, and connectivity. It includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic roof with an electrically adjustable sunshade and leather upholstery for a premium feel. Drivers benefit from an electrically rotatable touchscreen, keyless entry, and 17-inch alloy wheels, while metallic paint adds to its stylish exterior. Practical touches such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) output, a rear screen and side mirror defrost shortcut button, and the BYD Intelligent Voice Assistant with continuous dialogue and wake-up free command complete the package.

COMFORT

Stepping up to the Comfort trim, this variant builds on everything included in the Active and Boost, adding a series of enhanced technology and comfort features. These include a slightly larger rotatable touchscreen for an even more immersive infotainment experience, smartphone wireless charging for added convenience, and a 360-degree view camera for improved safety and visibility when parking or maneuvering.
