Following the judgement by the Supreme Court on Motor Finance Commissions in July 2025, on Tuesday 7th October 2025 the FCA announced their consultation paper on an industry wide compensation scheme to compensate customers who were treated unfairly between 2007 and 2024. If your car finance agreement was taken out before November 2024 you may be liable to redress and the proposed scheme states that the lender will write to you when the scheme starts which is thought to be in early 2026. The redress scheme is to be co-ordinated through the lenders.

The FCA have already paused existing enquiries until the 4th December 2025 and are proposing that the firms should issue a final response to existing enquiries before 31st July 2026. If you have an outstanding enquiry in this category then we will reply before this deadline.
