Jaguar Land Rover has just announced some interesting new additions to the Defender range. Though the bulk of them apply to the large 130, there are also some options that have been added to the rest of the line-up too.
They bring some exciting new features and some very off-road-focused extras, so there’s definitely plenty to talk about. Let’s explore what’s new.
Defender 130 Outbound
The new Defender 130 Outbound is a go-anywhere addition to the range. One of the biggest changes that the Outbound brings is the removal of the third row of seats from the 130, transforming the back of the car into one huge load area. In fact, there are 1,329 litres of space back there with the second row in place, or a massive 2,516 litres with that row folded flat. JLR says that the resulting space can carry everything ‘from wetsuits and kit bags to camping and climbing gear’.
But there’s plenty going on when it comes to the Outbound’s exterior, too. All versions get a Shadow Atlas Matt finish to the bumpers and grille insert, while there are anthracite-coloured side vents, too. You can also have the exterior covered in a satin protective film for added protection.
Plus, there are 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels - though larger 22-inch versions are available as an extra, too. Inside, there’s the option of either full Windsor leather or more hard-wearing ‘Resist’ fabric, while there’s a durable rubber floor cover for the back. It can be folded down to protect the rear bumper when you’re loading heavy items, too.
Defender 130 V8
Things take a more performance-focused turn with the new Defender 130 V8. While the V8 engine has been available in the rest of the Defender range, this is the first time that it’s been there to choose from with the 130. The 5.0-litre supercharged V8 produces 493bhp and can power the 130 from 0-60mph in just 5.4 seconds. You’ll be able to pick it out thanks to its quad-exit exhausts, too, while there’s specific V8 badging too.
All versions get Matrix LED headlights, too, as well as darkened tail lights and 22-inch satin dark grey alloy wheels. Inside, you’ll find 14-way heated and cooled electric front seats, alongside four-zone climate control. Plus, the third row of seats is heated as well, so everyone gets to travel in the best-possible comfort.
County Exterior Pack for Defender 110
If you’re familiar with the classic Defender, then it’s more than likely that you’ve heard of the County. Beloved for its no-nonsense approach, the County has now been reimagined as the modern 110. Designed to celebrate this model’s heritage, the County gets model-specific graphics along the doors and body sides, while you also get illuminated treadplates with the County graphics.
Plus, there are 20-inch alloy wheels - available in gloss white to contrast the exterior colour - while a range of interior options is there to choose from including the aforementioned Resist upholstery or more premium-grained leather and Windsor leather options. You can get extra light grey or white detailing for the inside, carrying on that contrast design set by the exterior.
