What are the EV predictions for 2025?
It is predicted that by the end of 2025, 85 million electric vehicles will be on the road - with the UK government planning for the phasing out of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2035, it’s no surprise that the EV market will increase over the next few years. In the UK alone, EVs are expected to contribute to 6% of the market in 2025 and by 2030, they’ll make up 19% of the market. There are a number of factors that play a part in this increase - consumers’ being made aware of the environmental impact of ICE vehicles, government policies and technological advancements.
Since the introduction of brands such as BYD to the UK market, the emphasis on electric is growing each day - and as infrastructure continues to expand to accommodate EVs and dissipate consumer fear on what it means to own an EV, it is predicted that more and more consumers will eventually buy an electric vehicle. Batteries for EVs are improving day-by-day, with some even capable of a range of up to 481 miles (depending on how the car is driven)!
Most people’s fear of owning an electric vehicle comes from their range anxiety - but with more plans in place to ensure that there are charging stations in urban and rural areas, more consumers may be persuaded to turn electric. We can expect to see the growth continue as more brands produce electric vehicles. Let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated cars that’ll be available in 2025.
Polestar 3
The Polestar 3 will be Polestar’s debut in the SUV market - manufactured to compete with the likes of the Audi Q8 and BMW iX, this EV boasts up to 392 miles in range with a 111kWh battery so it really packs a punch.
Polestar have never strayed from their debut model, so the Polestar 3 certainly expands into the realms of the unknown. It is likely to be followed by the Polestar 4, 5 and 6, which will increase the manufacturer’s offering substantially and give customers more options when going electric.
Offering plenty of room, a beautifully designed interior and a fun drive even on country roads, the Polestar 3 is ideal for those who are commuting or regularly take long road trips. The exterior design is very similar to its sister car, the Volvo EX90, so those who are familiar with the Volvo’s design can be assured that it doesn’t deviate far from the norm.
A smooth drive and quick pick-up mean you needn’t worry about making it to your destination on-time, with the car managing 0-62mph in just 4.7 seconds. A softer suspension provides a comfortable and relaxing drive.

Audi RS6
With a £180,000 price tag, this isn’t something that you would just wake up and decide to buy one day - it’ll take some serious consideration. Whilst a lot of Audi cars haven’t been known for their reliability, the RS6 proves this wrong with consumers reporting little going wrong or breaking. The power of this car is nothing to be sniffed at - it can reach 62mph in just 3.3 seconds thanks to its turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine.
When it comes to safety, the RS6 hasn’t been tested by Euro NCAP. The Audi A6 however, on which this car is based, has received a 5-star safety rating. Some standard features of the RS6 include adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring and parking sensors and camera, so it’s an ideal car for those who work or travel to the towns and cities on a regular basis. It’s also perfect for those who need to travel further on motorways and A-roads, as you can take a more relaxed approach to driving.
The RS6 seamlessly combines performance and practicality without compromising on safety or style. The interior offers ample legroom with sporty seats which ensures comfort and stability around sharp corners and plenty of boot space for luggage or cargo. This car also boasts heated rear passenger seats too!
Volkswagen ID.2all
Could the Volkswagen ID.2all be the next Golf? This car began as a concept that was revealed in 2023, but has since made it to production and will be in the dealerships for 2025. This vehicle will have a range of 280 miles, so it’s perfect for those who need a run-around car or want something smaller that’ll still offer them performance.
Once on sale, the price will be a reasonable £22,000 which is perfect for those looking for an affordable electric vehicle. The most prominent feature is the light bar on the front of the car, which gives it a stylish and unique aesthetic.
The interior however, is nothing like the classic Golf model - featuring two digital screens and a modern finish inside, Volkswagen have created a moody atmosphere with interior lighting and a modern look with premium materials and technological advancements to really drive electric home.
If the price of the vehicle remains at what Volkswagen has promised, then consumers could be in for a treat! This will make it one of the cheapest electric vehicles on the market, which is an important aspect to those looking to buy an EV but cannot afford to do so.
Cupra Tavascan
Manufactured to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen ID.5 and the Skoda Enyaq Coupe the Tavascan looks like a beast on the road, with thin cat eye-like headlights and large grill - a stylish and streamlined exterior with bronze highlights is what makes this car a true head-turner. With a light bar the stretches all the way across the back of the car and even lights up the CUPRA badge too, there’s no doubt
Offering 540 litres of boot space (that can fit 4 suitcases in it) and a range between 299 and 353 miles, this car is the perfect family car to take you wherever you need to go. Whether you’re going on holiday or on a road trip, there’s plenty of room so you and your family don’t feel claustrophobic.
The interior is striking, offering a streamlined, string-ray shaped dashboard and ample leg and headroom. The bronze highlights aren’t restricted to outside of the vehicle - you’ll find them lining the dashboard and doors too.
Kia EV3
Introducing Kia's EV3, a practical and fun-to-drive electric compact SUV arriving in 2025. Inspired by the stylish EV9, Kia plans to offer a range of smaller EVs at affordable prices. The EV3's design features a forward-pushed windscreen, robust squared wheel arches, and a floating roof effect with a disconnected C pillar. Inside, environmentally friendly materials will be used and the versatile rear seat can be folded up to accommodate bulky items like electric scooters and bicycles. Experience the joy of driving an EV with Kia's upcoming EV3.
Whilst there’s plenty of impressive ranges coming with the release of the above vehicles, some of the longest range EVs currently available in the UK include:
- CUPRA Tavascan - 481
- Audi A6 e-tron - 435 miles
- Mercedes EQS - 441 miles
- Tesla Model 3 - 341 miles
- Hyundai Inster - 220 miles
