Latest Volkswagen Group Electric Vehicles Recall: What You Need to Know

VW Group is recalling more vehicles due to dashboard gear indicator errors. However, the company continues its push toward high-quality, affordable entry-level cars for the masses.

Volkswagen Group has long been at the forefront of automotive innovation, releasing car after car and their models always performing successfully. The German brand also do particularly well in the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) market. However, even the most advanced technology can face challenges, as reflected in the recent recall affecting a selection of their EV models.

The car company believes there may be an issue with ID.4 and Audi Q4 e-tron vehicles due to a dashboard software glitch.

Volkswagen's Electric Vehicle Recall

VW Group announced the electric vehicle recall at the start of March 2025 following reports of potentially hazardous dashboard errors. The issue involves certain gear positions not being displayed, leading to risks of unintended vehicle movements like vehicle shaking or car wiggling, without the parking brake engaged.

According to the most recent information, the recall involves around 60,000 vehicles, including:

●    Audi Q4 e-tron and Sportback models built between 2022 and 2023

●    ID.4 models built between 2021 and 2023

Statements from the company in official press releases indicate this intention. The Board of Management of the VW Group wants to bring affordable electric vehicles to Europe, focusing on compact and inexpensive cars in the £17,000 range.

Oliver Blume, VW’s CEO, says that people associate the brand VW with their first car and that affordability is built into the company’s DNA. He explains that this is the driving factor behind the company’s push for inexpensive electric vehicles for the masses. He believes the company can perform well in the entry-level segment in the future by using energy, technology and design more efficiently to bring down prices while enhancing quality and reducing CO2 emissions.
