The Nissan Qashqai is a compact crossover-SUV produced by Japanese manufacturer Nissan since 2006 - a vehicle designed to combine the practicality and versatility of an SUV with the size and drivability of a hatchback or family car. As a crossover, the Qashqai aims to offer the “best of both worlds”: enough space for passengers and luggage to be family-friendly, yet compact enough to handle city streets, tight parking spots and everyday driving comfortably. Over its generations, it has evolved to include modern powertrain options (including mild-hybrid and hybrid variants in recent models), as well as a refined cabin, up-to-date safety features, and a design that balances SUV ruggedness with everyday usability.

First, the Qashqai offers great practicality and flexibility. You get a useful boot (around 504 litres in many trims) that’s big enough for weekly shopping, luggage, or school-run kit, and folding the rear seats expands that space dramatically, letting you carry larger items when needed. The cabin layout also tends to offer good passenger space, so it works well for families or anyone needing room for people and stuff. Second, running costs tend to be reasonable. Many of the petrol and mild-hybrid engines deliver decent fuel economy and modest emissions — a plus if you mostly drive in town or do mixed driving.
Maintenance, parts and general upkeep are also easier and often cheaper than premium or newer SUVs, which can save you money over the years. Third — because the Qashqai is a popular model, there are lots of used examples on the market, giving you a wide range of choices in terms of age, trim, budget and condition. That lets you be picky: you can hunt for a well-kept, lower-mileage car without necessarily paying top-end prices.
