The CUPRA Formentor started production in late September 2020 and is a product of Spanish car giant SEAT. It was the first car created specifically for their CUPRA sub-brand - a brand which has been designed specifically with performance as the top quality for their vehicles . When the CUPRA Formentor first hit the market, it was equipped with a high-performance 306bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine - which had already been built into CUPRA’s Ateca. The CUPRA Formentor range also includes two plug-in hybrids (that boast 242 and 201bhp), as well as an additional three petrol engines (at 242, 187, or 148bhp).

The Formentor has five available trim levels to choose between, but it’s important to keep in mind that the “VZ” trim levels are only available with engines with 242bhp and up. The “V1” and “V2” models are only available with less powerful engine options.

How does a used CUPRA Formentor drive?

Both new and used CUPRA Formentors don't have very much steering feel, but many have still found it to be fun to drive. The vehicle has a lot of grip, and the versions of the car that have four-wheel-drive handle especially well in all-weather conditions. With the Formentor, body roll is kept to a bare minimum, despite the fact the Formentor sits higher than CUPRA’s new Leon.

The vehicle also features a number of different driving modes, including “CUPRA mode,” which leads to a sharper throttle response, a lower and more powerful engine note, heavier steering, and the firmest suspension setting.The plug-in hybrid model is likely to be a great fit for anyone who wants to use the car for their daily commute, or who will otherwise spend a lot of time in traffic. Then again, the 1.5-litre TSI in the V1 trim represents the best value for money while still having a good overall driving experience.

While the CUPRA Formentor is a new and innovative addition to the CUPRA range, it shares certain qualities with other vehicles. The majority of the Formentor’s interior, for example, is shared with the CUPRA Leon (and also with the SEAT Leon). Buyers who are familiar with the Leon are unlikely to find anything to complain about with the interior of the Formentor.

When it comes to boot space, the CUPRA Formentor offers a 420 litre boot, which is perfect for family holidays or long road trips. The car also has a good amount of rear passenger space, although visibility from the back is not likely to be excellent, considering the size of the front sports seats.
