The Born was originally supposed to carry the SEAT badge and sell for a price slightly below that of the ID.3. Instead, the Spanish car company decided to opt to add the CUPRA badge on the vehicle and catapult it into the premium segment.
The name “Born” derives from a swanky district of Barcelona. The new vehicle has a much more aggressive chassis than the original SEAT concept and features all the usual high-performance trimmings you would expect from the speedy sub-brand.
The most powerful version of the vehicle is available with CUPRA’s e-Boost performance pack. This version comes with a high-performance electric motor capable of putting out around 228 bhp which is considerably more than the most powerful ID.3. Drivers who opt for the 77 kWh battery pack can get more than 335 miles of range.
Underneath this top-performing Born are some more affordable options. Buyers, for instance, can save money by going for the 58kWh battery pack and 201 bhp motor. There’s also another version with a smaller battery and 148 bhp motor.
Ultimately, the Born is a high-performance and highly competent eclectic hatchback for motorists who want to go green. Entry-level models offer more than enough range for daily city driving.
