With this year’s edition of the Munich Motor Show officially named ‘IAA Motability 2025,’ the event is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most important in recent history.
All of the big car makers are turning out this year, perhaps more than they ever have before, especially since the COVID pandemic. With major announcements from the likes of Volkswagen Group, CUPRA and other brands such as BMW and Polestar, the event in Germany’s third biggest city is set to be an excellent showing!
The IAA itself has also published its list of attendees that will have their own press conference, so we’ve revised the list to display a variety of the cars on display at the show later this year.
Audi Concept
With minimal information on this model, it seems to be a sure statement of intent from the German brand, bringing out a new electric sports car concept at IAA Motability 2025. Taking place in Munich between 8-14th September, the four rings will show off this car, with it set to be an “identity builder” and a defining moment. This concept car aims to reignite Audi’s sporty image and emotional resonance.
Between the TT and R8, this car isn’t a TT relaunch, nor is it an R8 successor - instead, Audi envisions this as something far bigger and also new, which blends both performance with emotional design. Despite being a concept, it’s confirmed for production and is expected to reach showrooms within two years of its debut. For Audi, this car isn’t just a design study, it is an intended symbolic reboot of Audi’s performance heritage.

CUPRA Raval
As well as another exciting model, this sporty Spanish brand has confirmed that the new ‘Raval’ will be shown at this year’s event, albiet under camouflage. This takes part in the stance from VW Group’s that has plans for all its ‘core’ brands to unveil their ‘Electric Urban Cars’ at the event.
Originally unveiled as the UrbanRebel concept, the model was officially christened as CUPRA Raval in 2023 - named after a vibrant Barcelona district, continuing Cupra’s tradition of naming models after local neighbourhoods. Built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB Small / Entry platform, the Raval shares its foundation with the VW ID.2 and Skoda Epiq. The production-ready version will be camouflaged and revealed at the Munich Motor Show in early September 2025, with full market launch expected in 2026.
The Raval retains an aggressive and powerful angular styling from its concept roots, featuring triangular headlights and dynamic body lines. At around 4.03m long, it slots into the compact hatchback segment.
CUPRA Tindaya
After releasing a whole host of exciting cars, CUPRA has been a growing brand of choice for many, and the manufacturer themselves have been growing in confidence. Named after a volcano on the island of Fuerteventura and designed to show us design cues of its future models, the Tindaya is set to deliver the maximum of driver focus, while offering a unique experience, as most CUPRA cars already do. The Tindaya will have a big emphasis on enhancing driver’s emotions too, with this new model.
Due to make a striking debut at IAA Motability 2025, the Tindaya will join a host of firm favourite CUPRA models already on the roads in the Terramar, Formentor and Born for example. The car, taking inspiration from its name, symbolises raw power and endures natural beauty. The mountain’s copper-hued, rugged rock inspires the concept’s visuals and allows it to have a clear identity, mirroring CUPRA’s current signature aesthetic. CUPRA’s main drive is wanting the car to be central to the brand’s identity, closely intensifying the brand’s emotional engagement behind the wheel.

Volkswagen ID.2
Just like the other ‘core’ VW Group brands, Volkswagen is expected to show something quite a lot more tangible about its Polo-sized electric car that has been heavily inspired by the ID.2All concept. This electric car’s debut will unveil the car as the ID.2 X, making it a compact electric crossover. During the Munich Motor Show in September 2025, positioned as an all-electric successor to the T-Cross, it represents VW’s expansion into accessible EVs for the urban compact SUV market.
Alongside the SUV, attendees of the event will also see the ID.2 hatchback concept - an ultra-compact city-friendly EV previewed previously as the ID.2all. Volkswagen’s design chief calls the ID.2 a ‘safe’ and ‘confident’ car, with a strong look.
Volkswagen T-Roc
A huge seller for Volkswagen, a car that has been a constant for the German brand since its first release, this model, a firm part of the VW SUV family tree has a new variant. The newest adaptation of the T-Roc will be the second new VW to debut at the show, with it being spotted in testing under camouflage. Hints of the car being a conservative design with a stretched bonnet, Volkswagen are set to have electrified the T-Roc range with its newest iteration.
Getting closer to the launch, the second-generation T-Roc will be seen for the first time at IAA Motability 2025 at the Open Space in Munich’s Odeonsplatz. This is one of the most eagerly-anticipated new releases of any brand, especially Volkswagen directly and this embodies VW’s “motability for everyone” theme. For the first time, the new T-Roc will feature a full-hybrid system, akin to Toyota Prius, blending a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and battery - allowing the car to be driven on both petrol, electric or a mix of both. Built on the MQB Evo platform that is shared with models like the refreshed Golf Mk8.5.
With design evolution in the way of slim LED lightbars across the front and rear, a more sculptured front grille and headlights. Possessing a modern geometric styling that draws inspiration from the Tiguan and Golf family.

Renault Clio
Renault has confirmed it intends to launch an all-new generation of Clio at Munich. Very minimal information has been shared so far, but it is expected to be a proper all-new generation unlike the last one, which will be available with combustion and hybrid power to keep it different from the 5 electric car.
Polestar 5
Polestar long awaited reveal of the car they have famously rivalled against the Porsche Taycan and Lotus Emeya will make its official debut at the show next month. Plenty is anticipated from it, and many people are in the know of this powerful, all-electric car, with Polestar promising an 800-volt electrical architecture, max power that is set to be north of 850bhp and the brand’s first dedicated platform underneath.
Final thoughts
As various brands close in on Munich for the unveiling of their respective cars, on the same weekend, exciting futures for each of the manufacturers lies in wait.
