Introduction to The T-Roc
Originally released in November 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, this SUV has been an extremely popular figure in Volkswagen’s lineup for sometime now, and the family of T’s going from strength to strength as the VW Tayron arrived most recently. The new T-Roc is a compact crossover SUV, designed to combine the practicality of a standard SUV, with the added agility and styling of a hatchback. It sits between the smaller T-Cross and larger Tiguan in the Wolfsburg-based brands lineup and has become one of VW’s best-selling models in Europe since its launch.

Now that the new Volkswagen T-Roc has been unveiled ahead of an expected reveal at the famous Munich Motor Show next month, it is also anticipated the Wolfsburg-based brand will also launch the ID 2X baby SUV there, too. Showcasing the new car’s sharp looking raked roofline, just one of many additions the T-Roc has had as we enter the second generation.
The New T-Roc: Smart, Sleek and Prepared to Lead From The Front
With this new version of the T-Roc, Volkswagen have opted for more Tiguan and less ordinary, as the T-Roc adopts a refined design language taken from its bigger sibling, the Tiguan. Expect a sleek front end featuring IQ LIGHT LED Matrix headlights complimented by a backlit panel, presenting a modern and polished look. It’s framed with a sculpted hood and subtle side vent graphics. The cars profile remains truly dynamic, with smoother sheet-metal, scalloped wheel arches and bold geometrical taillights that enhance its sporty stance.
Sporty, Flexible and Comfortable
Functional, extremely comfortable or super sporty - this is what makes the T-Roc stand out, especially with its line displaying even more character than the previous variant of the model. Standing 12cm longer than its predecessor, with a streamlined front section, distinctive bumpers and powerful lines. It is progressive, iconic and coveted by alloy wheels 20 inches by size. With narrow performance headlights, a continuous light strip and illuminated Volkswagen logos front and rear, available on Style and R-Line, characterise the striking signature light of the new T-Roc. Optional matrix LED headlights with IQ.Light technology and tail light cluster in 3D-inspired design ensure even better visibility and add stylish accents day and night.
Interior & Tech: Classy & Capable
Inside, the T-Roc introduces a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, wireless charging, and strong smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto). Ambient lighting, premium materials, and enhanced soundproofing elevate comfort. VW continue the trend of digital sophistication with features like the Digital Cockpit Pro, while also maintaining physical controls for ease of use. Space-wise, the boot offers a solid 445 litres which is expandable to around 1,290 litres with seats folded, enabling the entire cockpit to remain tidy and practical.
Engines & Drivetrain
This new release of the T-Roc will be the brand’s first model to use a new full-hybrid powertrain that is also bound for the Golf and Tiguan, eventually. This will end up working similarly to that used by Toyota, capable of those using a petrol engine, an electric motor or a combination of both. It will though, however, feature a full lineup of efficient turbo engines - from 1.0L to 2.0L, making the top tier includes a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version, delivering up to 268 hp and an all-electric range of about 62 miles.

When can I get my hands on the New Volkswagen T-Roc?
With the second generation T-Roc debuting this month [August 2025], UK dealers are expecting to begin offering the new model before the end of the year, likely soon after the unveiling at Munich’s Motor Show in September.
