Earlier this year, CUPRA announced a selection of upgrades to some of the core models in the range. This host of updates has given the brand a refresh for 2024 adding additional powertrains and performance to key models alongside sporty interior and exterior design additions.

With a brand-new CUPRA Formentor, Leon and Leon Estate coming later this summer and the highly anticipated CUPRA Tavascan arriving soon after, 2024 is expected to be an exciting year for the Spanish brand.

Brand New CUPRA Formentor

The design updates to the CUPRA Formentor have been extensive. The car’s face has been completely redesigned with sleek, triangular LED headlights, a pointy bonnet that CUPRA calls the ‘shark-nose’ and a wider and more imposing front grille. The side profile retains a sporty sloping roofline, creating a coupe-like appearance. Additional alloy wheel designs have been added to the range with sizes from 18 to 19 inches.

Even though the interior updates are quite subtle, the included upgrades have kept the Formentor modern. There is a new 12.9” touchscreen as standard, which uses new software to create a more user-friendly experience.

Most of the upgrades for the new Formentor come in the shape of a new engine lineup. The range starts with a 1.5 litre 150 hp petrol engine matched with a six-speed automatic gearbox. There is also a 2.0 litre petrol engine with offers 204 bp. Petrol heads will be excited by the VZ version which uses the same engine as the VW Golf R and the Audi S3. There is the option of a 265hp version with front wheel drive or 333hp which uses all-wheel drive.

Brand New CUPRA Leon Hatchback and Estate

The Brand new CUPRA Leon range stands out thanks to sporty and flamboyant design choices, the face follows similar design cues to the all-new Formentor with the updated pointy bonnet, triangular headlights and a lower grille.

The rear features a brand-new light bar across the boot lid, a light-up Cupra logo and similar triangular taillights. There is a variety of engine options with the range-topping choice being a 2.0 litre turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol engine which has an output of 333hp. This model also gets all-wheel drive and is the same engine as the Audi S3.

There is a lightly more sensible option with a 1.5 litre, 150hp petrol engine and plug-in hybrid versions achieving up t 62 miles of pure electric driving.

The changes to the line up have made the CUPRA Leon and CUPRA Leon Estate standout in quite a competitive market.

CUPRA Tavascan Concept

Brand New CUPRA Tavascan

An addition to CUPRA’s electric car line up has been a longtime coming! The CUPRA Tavascan will be the second electric car from the Spanish manufacturer. This electric SUV will be larger than the CUPRA Born and will be a main competitor for Volkswagen’s ID.5.

The Tavascan features exciting styling and features including Matrix LED headlights, funky looking daytime running lights and a deep front bumper with larger air vents adding to the sporty appearance. The alloy wheel designs start with the 19” standard option but there are also impressive 20 and 21” options available.

There are two options of the Tavascan when it comes to power, these are a single motor with rear wheel drive producing 286 hp or a dual-motor system with all-wheel drive and 340 hp. There is just one battery option at 77kWh and an expected fully electric range of up to 339 miles.
