Citroen’s C5 Aircross has proved to be an underground hit in the SUV segment thanks to its excellent value-for-money and impressive refinement. It’s an incredibly comfortable car, in fact, and it’s one that suits family duties down to the ground. Now, Citroen has seen fit to bolster its appeal with the introduction of a hybrid version - so let’s take a look at what this electrified version has to offer.

Technology- 19 different technologies for safety, travelling comfort and driving pleasure. These include:
Interior
The interior of the C5 Aircross is a great place to be. A large central touchscreen dominates proceedings, while there’s a great sense of space thanks to large windows and a wide windscreen. Material quality is good too and though there are some harder plastics to be found, it’s all very hard-wearing and should stand up to the test of time.
There’s loads of space, too, with a 600-litre boot more than large enough for most occasions - though this is down on the 780 litres you’ll find in the standard car, reduced as a result of the hybrid’s batteries.
Exterior
Citroen broke the mould when it released the original C4 Cactus, and the French firm has taken some of the quirky styling used on that car and applied it to the much larger C5 Aircross. The front ‘nose’ of the car is wide and distinctive, while plenty of chrome elements help to give it a more premium look.
Despite being a large car, the curvy styling helps to disguise its overall bulk well - this is likely to be an added bonus for those who don’t want their SUV to look to ‘huge’.
Technology
Citroen has done well to lift the overall levels of technology included in its cars in recent years, and the C5 Aircross is a great example of this. The central infotainment system is easy to operate, while there are touch-sensitive buttons located underneath the screen to give quick access to other functions as well.
The digital instrument cluster which takes up the place where the conventional dials would sit is a great touch too; it’s easy to customise and can be tailored to show a variety of readouts.

The C5 Aircross makes use of a hybrid powertrain in this instance, which combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and batteries. Together, that combination produces 222bhp and 320Nm of torque, and you should be able to drive up to 31 miles on electric power alone.
This makes the Aircross exceptionally economical, with Citroen claiming up to 166mpg and emissions of just 39g/km CO2. ere ...
