Let’s take a look at what the future holds.

It was only 2018 when CUPRA officially split from SEAT to act as a standalone brand, but this sporty Spanish firm has got off to a flying start.

Initially launching with the Ateca and Leon, it’s begun producing its own bespoke models, including the Formentor crossover and Born EV – both of which have received particularly high accolades. Sales to date in 2022 are almost double those from 2021, while it’s now larger than well-established brands like Jaguar and Lexus.

But there are lots more exciting things to come at CUPRA. Let’s take a look at what the future holds.

Tavascan

Cupra first showed the Tavascan as a concept car back in September 2019, and though it’s yet to reach production form, the brand is working hard to get it ready for 2024. Set to act as the brand’s new flagship, the Tavascan will arrive as CUPRAs second electric car, following on from the Born.

Likely to be built around the Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric car platform, this coupe-crossover will pave the way for future CUPRA models and help to grow the brand in new markets.

Terramar

The year 2024 will be busy for CUPRA as it will also see the arrival of the Terramar. This is another brand-new model for the Spanish brand and it will be important as its final combustion car before it moves to EV.

The Terramar will be a new mid-size SUV offering a bold design and plenty of interior space for customers. Customers will be able to choose it with regular petrol engines alongside a plug-in hybrid.

Urban Rebel

Perhaps the most eagerly awaited new CUPRA is the Urban Rebel. Currently seen purely in concept form, this new model will be the brand’s new ‘urban’ model and be its smallest car yet.

The 4.03-metre-long model will arrive in 2025, and is set to prioritise sustainability, as well as affordability – ensuring that electric cars are available to all.

Revisions to current Leon, Formentor and Born

Though the current CUPRA Ateca holds an uncertain position in the brand’s future line-up, CUPRA has committed to updates to its Formentor, Leon and Born models.

Though all of these cars are still fairly fresh, before 2025 we can expect styling revisions and tech enhancements to build on the success of these products further.
