From the raised edges of the clamshell bonnet, to the colour-coordinated floating roof, the Discovery Sport’s bold silhouette shows inherent Land Rover DNA. Inspired by the Range Rover Sport, with the original Discovery’s seven seats, and the rounded nose and slim grille that are pure Evoque, the Discovery Sport incorporates all the triumphant features of the iconic Land Rover range. The entry-level PURE Special Edition comes with a generous specification, including 18-inch five-split-spoke alloy wheels and rear parking aid. The SE also features a heated front screen and cruise control with speed limiter. The SE Tech and HSE Luxury add an innovative Gesture Tailgate, which opens and closes the boot with a quick swipe of your foot under the rear of the car. Opt for the HSE Dynamic Lux or the limited edition HSE Black for 20-inch five-split-spoke alloys with Gloss Black finish and privacy glass.
Inside, the Discovery Sport feels like a premium product with a robust edge. Bold lines are complemented by quality surfaces and superb finishes. Well-placed controls distinguish an uncluttered dashboard, featuring an eight-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system with optional Head-up Display and InControl application. The all-new multi-link rear suspension allows a third row of seats – seven in total for all your passengers and available in cloth, grained leather or Windsor leather depending on the specification. Seven-seat versatility does not compromise on loadspace however, with 1,698 litres as standard and the option of flexible seating, which when stored flat, gives a load floor as long as the celebrated Range Rover.
A choice of three different engines are available on the new Discovery Sport. The 2.0-litre TD4 Ingenium diesel is offered in two different power outputs, a 148bhp or 178bhp, and the higher-powered version can be specified with a state-of-the-art nine-speed automatic transmission. The innovative 178bhp 2.0-litre automatic is the more powerful option utilising 430Nm of torque to race from 0-60 in around 8.9 seconds, and with a maximum speed of 117mph. The lower-powered 2.0-litre unit branded E-Capability is the more efficient engine, achieving 57.7mpg combined and CO² emissions of less than 129g/km. Adaptive Cruise Control and adaptive dynamics ensure optimum balance of ride and control for relaxed long-distance drives, while Terrain Response and Hill Descent Control features deliver industry-leading off-road capability.
The new Discovery Sport bristles with intelligent technology and safety features to make your drive secure and enjoyable. A 10-speaker sound system with Bluetooth® audio streaming is offered as standard, with the option of an 11-speaker Meridian audio system with subwoofer on the HSE trim and up. The Blind Spot Monitor warns of approaching vehicles from either side, while a range of Park Assist technologies make parking simple. Speed Limit Alerts signal changes in road speed limits, so you can respond faster to restrictions. Seven front, side and curtain airbags offer advanced protection in the event of a collision.
