Volkswagen has widened its Transporter van line-up through the introduction of a new dynamic Sportline trim.

Priced from £42,940, the Sportline adds a whole host of visual touches including a redesigned front bumper, widened side bars and a rear spoiler too. New 18-inch alloy wheels - finished in gloss black - are fitted as well, while the van’s ride height has been dropped by 30mm over the standard Transporter courtesy of new Eibach suspension.

The Sportline Transporter can be finished in a variety of new exterior colours including Indium Grey, Fortana Red and Ravenna Blue, which are combined with a variety of red accents dotted across the outside of the van.

The interior of the Sportline is trimmed in nappa leather and suede, with honeycomb stitching featuring on the middle of the seats, which are heated as standard. Sportline logos are applied throughout the cabin, while Volkswagen’s digital cockpit comes fitted as standard too. It also benefits from a 9.2-inch infotainment display running Volkswagen’s latest Discover Media Pro system.

Front and rear parking sensors make positioning the car at lower speeds easier and these are backed by a rear-view camera, too. Both adaptive cruise control and city emergency braking are also fitted as standard.

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine driven through a seven-speed automatic gearbox, the Sportline is capable of reaching 60mph in 8.7 seconds. It’s available in both short and long-wheelbase layouts, as well as either a panel van or people-moving Kombi versions.
