Practicality meets performance

The Audi SQ2 can be described as powerful, not just in looks. With the addition of upgraded lighting and a sharper, eye-catching new look, this is a top notch Q2 with a striking appearance.

Design

The Audi SQ2 remains a compact SUV like the Q2 but it doesn't make its presence any quieter! A new grille design and dramatic implied air intakes, sow off the SQ2's sport style.

S-branded brake calipers and four exhaust tailpipes further highlight that this is an Audi Sport model and hint at the monstrous 300 PS under the bonnet. LED headlights come as standard for SQ2 and SQ2 Black Edition Models, while the SQ2 Vorsprung takes a step up to Matrix LED units. Plus, LED rear lights with dynamic turn signals radiate a characteristic, arrow-shaped light signature in the Vorsprung versions.

Inside you will find sports seats, upholstered in a black leather and Alcantara mix in the SQ2 and SQ2 Black Edition or in full Fine Nappa leather in the SQ2 Vorsprung. The headlining is also finished in black.

Technology

On-board infotainment technology is significantly enhanced across the board for the new SQ2, not only by the addition of the fully digital virtual cockpit with its 12.3-inch display.

As with the Q2, the SQ2 from Audi has a range of infotainment options with the MMI navigation plus at the top of the list, with its 8.3-inch monitor, controllable via pushbutton or voice control. Its menus are clearly structured, and the rotary push button on the centre tunnel console includes a touchpad that enables multi-finger scrolling and zooming. There’s also the Audi smartphone interface that integrates iOS and Android phones with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto environments into the MMI system.

For safety, the SQ2 comes with Audi pre-sense front as standard which uses radar technology to recognise hazardous situations ahead. Audi pre-sense will warn the driver acoustically and visually and can initiate emergency braking if necessary. Also featured as standard is a rear-view camera to complement the rear parking sensors, which are now joined by front sensors for enhanced perimeter monitoring.

What is the difference between the Q2 and the SQ2?

Although the Q2 and SQ2 are based on the same model and chassis, the differences are evident in both appearance and power. The S in SQ2 simply stands for Sport so as you can expect, the Audi SQ2 is a more pumped up Q2 with higher spec. Both the SQ2 and SQ2 Black Edition comes with a 2.0 TFSI engine with 300 PS resulting in 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds. Whereas the top performing Q2 model is an S line 2.0 TFSI quattro S tronic producing 190PS. Added features to the SQ2 also include dramatic air intakes on either side, S-badged front brake calipers, roof-edge spoiler and not just one but four exhaust tailpipes. The Audi SQ2 is also at the head of its class with respect to operation, infotainment and assist systems.
