Circus Starr is a touring circus, based in Congleton, boasting world-class, professional artists from across the globe. Founded in 1987, the charity puts on their world-class show right across the country, working with children’s hospices and hospitals, Young Carers, foster children, SEN schools and Women’s Refuges to bring joy into the lives of children, who often have little to look forward to.
Circus Starr is a not-for-profit organisation and hosts circus shows at seventy five venues, three times a year.
Throughout 2016, for every Motability scheme vehicle we sell across the group, we’ll be donating a pair of tickets, worth £20, for a child and their carer to go to the circus.
On a bright May day, Swansway Group director, David Smyth, and his children, visited a Circus Starr performance to donate £3,600; £20 for each of the 180 Motability vehicles sold across the group in the first quarter of 2016.
David commented, “As a family owned business, we focus our charitable giving on children and young people. Circus Starr brings fun and magic into the lives of children, for whom life is a struggle and I’ve seen the smiles and heard the laughter, which tells me what a fantastic job this charity is doing. I’m proud that Swansway can help more children and their carers have a day to remember”.

A delighted Simone Unett, Sales Manager and Trainer for Circus Starr commented, “Our shows are a way of taking children out of their everyday lives, whether they are disabled or disadvantaged, Circus Starr takes them to another world, of enjoyment, wonder and laughter. Parents and carers and indeed the children themselves, tell us what a wonderful experience Circus Starr is and we love giving kids and their carers a never to be forgotten outing”.
“We want to thank Swansway for helping us to make memories”, added Simone, “That’s what Circus Starr does and this donation has helped us to make special memories for over six hundred and fifty more children in 2016, which is so wonderful for us”.
At Swansway Group, we target our charitable giving towards children and young people, as director David Smyth explained, “As a family owned and run business, we know how important families are and we know that some families and children face real challenges. Circus Starr brings fun and magic into the lives of these children, I’ve seen the smiles and heard the laughter, I know, at first hand, what a fantastic job this charity does. I’m proud that Swansway has helped create magical memories for hundreds of children”.We have been so impressed with the Circus Starr programme that we will carry on their support for 2017, once again donating £20, the equivalent of a ticket for one child and their carer, for every vehicle sold on the Motability scheme.
