Switching your engine on only to find that your car won’t start is never going to be convenient, however it might be easier than you think to get it up and running again.
With an extra pair of hands and an extra four wheels, you can get back on the road again by using a set of jump cables. Although they may seem scary at first, it’s actually quite simple to connect your cars, all you have do is follow a few rules to ensure both yours and your vehicle’s safety.
Just be sure to check that neither car is alternatively fuelled, and that you start with both engines switched off before you do anything, as this could potentially cause further damage.
Our short video runs through exactly what to do to get your car up and running again. Once your engine has started again you will need to drive around for at least fifteen minutes to ensure sufficient energy is generated before you can switch the engine off. However, we would advise against jump starting your car too often and would recommend bringing your car into your local Swansway Dealership as soon as you can to ensure that your battery is in full working order.
Our trained Technicians will be able to fully examine your car and diagnose the issue, after that we’ll talk you through our next move and agree a plan of action to get you and your car back on the road as quickly and safely as possible.
If you spot anything in our video that you'd like further advice on, or if you have any queries at all, let us know.
