What is AdBlue®?

Many cars create harmful emissions through the exhaust system, which releases Nitrogen Oxide into the air. AdBlue® is a non-toxic, non-flammable, odourless and biodegradable reducing agent that helps make cars cleaner and more efficient which in turn lowers the levels of harmful exhaust emissions that are released.

How does AdBlue®work?

With the AdBlue® solution, you can make your car cleaner and more efficient. The AdBlue® fluid is carried in a separate tank and then pumped into the engine where it is injected into the exhaust gases. Working together with the catalyst, the AdBlue® will convert 80% of the most harmful emissions into harmless nitrogen and water.

How and when do I need to top up my AdBlue® ?

You can refill the tank yourself when you are alerted by your Driver Information System or alternatively you can book your car in with us and we will be happy to assist you topping up your AdBlue®. Your driver information system will display a warning when the fluid is running low at three intervals. The warning will start at 1500 miles and count down.

How often do I need to top up my AdBlue® ?

The intervals for topping up AdBlue® on your vehicle will vary. How often you top up your AdBlue® will all depend on the following factors; size of the AdBlue® tank (you can find this out by looking at the owner's manual or speaking to the service team), your driving style, the type of journeys you take, road and weather conditions and finally the load that is placed on your engine. It is more than likely that your AdBlue® will need to be replenished before your car is due for its regular service.

Things to be cautious of when topping up AdBlue® ?

• Wear suitable protective clothing such as rubber gloves and glasses when handling AdBlue® as it is a mild corrosive.
• Avoid contact with skin. If AdBlue® does come into contact with eyes or skin, rinse for at least 15 minutes with water and seek medical help. If AdBlue is swallowed, wash the mouth with plenty of water again for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice immediately.
• Spilt AdBlue should be removed quickly with a damp cloth and cold water. Affected areas can be slippery and may cause problems with brick or concrete surfaces.
• You should keep all refilling equipment free of dust and dirt
• Avoid mixing AdBlue® with diesel fuel. Also don't use if it's contaminated with water or any fuel. In the incident that you use contaminated, AdBlue® do not start your car and contact roadside assistance.
• Never all AdBlue tank to run empty
• After refilling, switch on the ignition only. Leave it on for at least 30 seconds so that the system can detect the refill. Wait 30 seconds before starting the engine.
