The new Honda CR-V is designed to be even more safe than before, with 36% of its body frame made from high-strength steel the new CR-V has increased strength, reduced weight and increased performance in the case of a collision. Sophisticated new suspensions, lower-arm-type MacPherson strut suspension up front and multi-link suspension at the rear, make the journey more comfortable across various road surfaces. The Honda CR-V is the largest SUV in the firm’s line-up, giving those who want a more spacious car from Honda an option. In addition, a seven-seat CR-V provides a car for drivers who need a little more passenger space. There’s also a clever hybrid version too. In short, the CR-V has a lot to offer - so let’s dive in and see what’s what.

What Trim levels are available on the Honda CR-V ?

S specification marks the entry point to the CR-V range, and it’s only available with the lower-powered petrol engine. Even so, it brings features such as LED headlights, an intelligent multi-info display and climate control.

When you go up to SE grade, features such as dual-zone climate control, Honda’s full infotainment system and Garmin satellite navigation help to make the CR-V an even more appealing prospect. It’s also available with the more powerful engine and all-wheel-drive.

SR gives the CR-V a new look through the inclusion of privacy glass, while the interior is helped thanks to the addition of full leather upholstery. The comfort levels of the CR-V are boosted further still with heated front seats - a welcome addition for chilly winter mornings.

EX comes in at the top of the range, with luxurious features such as a steering wheel, a full head-up display and a driver seat with eight-way power adjustability helping to lift it above other grades here. A practical addition is the hands-free access power tailgate; simply wave your foot underneath the rear bumper and the boot will open - it's a great option to have when carrying shopping or heavy bags.

SE (7 Seater)

Features include:

  • Dual zone automatic climate control
  • Honda CONNECT™ infotainment system
  • 7 seats

SR (7 Seater)

Features include:

  • eCall
  • Windscreen Wiper De-Icer
  • 7 Seats

The interior of the CR-V has been designed with families in mind, which is why you’ll find plenty of clever design touches aimed at boosting practicality levels. The second row seats split 60:40, giving a flexible storage solution, while the third row of seats (in seven-seat models) provide a lot more space than you might expect. When that third row of seats isn’t needed, they fold seamlessly into the floor - leaving it flat and easily accessible.

The Honda CR-V is one of the more striking SUVs on sale today in terms of design, with eye-catching looks which help to differentiate it from its rivals. The large chrome grille up front is one of the most noticeable touches, while a sharply cut-off rear section gives it a futuristic look. Wraparound LED running lights are another great styling feature, while a chromed rear trim piece helps to give the CR-V a more premium look.

The CR-V incorporates plenty of technology designed to make everyday life easier and more hassle-free. There’s a seven-inch touchscreen incorporated into the dash, and this features Bluetooth connectivity as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Garmin navigation is fitted too, while a full-colour TFT display ahead of the driver relays key information back to whoever is behind the wheel.

There’s no diesel option available with the CR-V - just a petrol and a petrol-hybrid version. The standard engine is a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit with 171bhp and a six-speed manual gearbox with front-wheel-drive, while another option - with the same engine but more power - brings 190bhp and four-wheel-drive. The hybrid CR-V combines a 143bhp 2.0-litre petrol with an electric motor for better efficiency, and it’s available with two- or four-wheel-drive as well.
