The label-defying DS 5 is the largest model in the line-up from Citroën’s premium sub-brand. Whether you prefer to think of it as a five-door coupé, a compact estate car or even a large hatchback, its merits are undeniable. The DS 5 is available in Elegance and Prestige trims.
The sleek shape and classic styling of the DS 5 is sure to turn heads. The Elegance trim is equipped with striking 18-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and LED daytime running lights, along with useful features such as automatic headlights and rain-sensitive windscreen wipers. Upgrade to the Prestige variant and your DS 5 will also boast Xenon and LED combination headlights with scrolling indicators.
The interior of the DS 5 is just as refined. A glass roof is fitted as standard, bathing the cabin with natural light, and you also get a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Prestige trim adds leather upholstery and interior mood lighting for a sumptuous feel. This spacious model offers plenty of head and legroom for all five occupants, and there is 465-litre boot.
You can choose from one petrol engine, three diesel units and a diesel-electric hybrid model. Each powertrain is linked to a start/stop feature, saving fuel during urban journeys. Each variant offers refined power and fuel economy is impressive across the range. The hybrid powertrain is the quickest and the most efficient, with a 0-60mph time of around nine seconds and an efficiency figure of 72.4mpg combined.
The standard specification is generous, with parking sensors and cruise control on both trim levels. The infotainment system includes a seven-inch touchscreen, DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity and MirrorLink integration for Android smartphones. The DS 5 is also a very safe car, boasting ESC, hill start assist and a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
