The latest Leon is already a good looking car, so the small tweaks that CUPRA has made to it only elevate its aesthetic appeal even further. The estate looks particularly good too, with a relatively long wheelbase and sharp, sweeping lines helping to give it a very dynamic appearance out on the road. The full-width light bar on the Leon is a real talking point too and brings a very futuristic look to the rear of the car.

CUPRA has already shown that it’s a dab hand at interiors, what with the classy cabins in both the Formentor and Ateca showing that it has a good eye for details. Inside the Leon you’ll find a similarly well-finished place to be, with high-quality materials and a large central screen. Of course, the estate version brings added practicality too. Though the batteries connected to the hybrid system do eat into boot space, there’s still a useful 470 litres there to play with.

The Leon is underpinned with the same platform as you’ll find being used by the latest Volkswagen Golf and, as a result, it benefits from the same interior technology too. You get a 10-inch central screen that houses all of your main functions such as satellite navigation and media. There’s also a second virtual cockpit ahead of the driver which, as well as showcasing conventional readouts such as speed, can also be used to showcase the navigation or selected media.
The Leon’s e-Hybrid setup makes use of a 1.4-litre petrol engine which is then linked to an electric motor and a 13kWh battery. Thanks to the latter, you should get up to 37 miles of electric-only power, while CO2 emissions stand at below 50g/km, depending on the wheel size you opt for. It offers up more than enough performance, however, with a 0-60mph time of 7.2 seconds.
Things kick off with the VZ2 and here you get 19-inch machine black and silver alloy wheels, the full digital cockpit setup and the aforementioned 10.1-inch infotainment system.
CUPRA Leon Estate VZ3 e-hybrid
Move up to VZ3 and you’ll find seat heating for the front seats included as standard, as well as LED taillights with dynamic turn signals. Wireless phone charging is another piece of clever technology, while three-zone climate control makes things even more comfortable.
