As part of our aim to support children and young adults, we’re funding an exciting new programme; Talentscape, the brainchild of Richard Holmes, Crewe YMCA Development & Quality Manager. Our director, David Smyth, recently presented Richard with a cheque for £25,000, sufficient to fund the programme for twelve months and run a kids after school football club.
Delighted Richard Holmes explained, “We were introduced to Swansway at a Crewe Pledge meeting and they were keen to learn more about our work and to find a way they could support us. Working together we came up with the Swansway Talentscape Programme, designed to introduce our young people to the world of work.”
“It’s important to remember that the young people we support may not always have the usual family network around them; taking the first steps into work needs some coaching and confidence and Talentscape will do that for them,” continued Richard.
“With the funding from Swansway, we’ve been able to employ Hannie Renshall as our dedicated Talentscape coach. Hannie will find local businesses who are able to offer experience in the workplace to our young people; she will coach and support them, helping them to find their feet and gain a positive experience, which will build self-esteem and enhance their life skills. I can’t thank Swansway enough for supporting this new initiative, it’s been just what we needed”, added Richard.
Everyone at Swansway is looking forward to seeing how this initiative changes the lives of the young people who it supports.
