Used Car Sales Executive Job Description

To achieve agreed sales target for the new and/or used cars, within defined operating and financial guidelines.

To contribute to the development plans, policies and procedures as required to ensure the achievement of all sales tasks smoothly and in a timely manner.

To be fully conversant with all Sales Department procedures relating to H.S.O. & C.E.I

OBJECTIVES AND KEY TASKS

To prepare and use a planned sales presentation, designed to achieve maximum results from available sales opportunities. Including: customer greeting; qualifying; handling objections; product presentation and demonstrations; closing and delivery.

To develop and use Customer Follow-up and Prospecting systems designed to create additional sales opportunities for repeat or new business. Furthermore, to contribute to achievement of maximum customer retention through the above plus the effective delivery and handover of vehicles.

Develop and use a planned daily, weekly and monthly sales call programme, as agreed with the Sales Manager.

Develop and maintain full knowledge of all products, accessories, prices and key features of major competitors.

Handle all customer queries and complaints and ensure they are resolved to achieve customer and company requirements.

Provide reports as required on all sales activities including follow-up, prospecting, sales presentations, new clients etc., to ensure accurate sales forecasts where possible.

Maintain adequate records of all sales activities and personal expenses. Ensure the completion of all sales' and financial paperwork accurately and in a timely manner to ensure the completion of sales in a satisfactory manner.

Carry out accurate appraisals of all vehicles presented in part-exchange, using a systematic appraisal record, including mechanical, electrical and all cosmetic features. Agree valuations with the Sales Manager and complete satisfactory negotiations with potential customers to maximise sales.

  • Maintain all demonstrators supplied for personal use in clean and tidy condition at all times, suitable for their use as customer demonstration cars. To include completing demonstrator logs.

To achieve activity targets on a daily basis.

To complete sales and telephone logs on a daily basis.

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS

To ensure immediate communication of operational sales to all other sales executives and administration and so maintain accurate stock availability information.

Training

  • To attend training courses as necessary to keep updated, particularly on new models.
  • To ensure ability to inform all customers of new developments and specifications for all vehicles.
  • To keep updated on competitors products, prices and specifications.
  • To ensure details of all vehicle transactions are accurately recorded and registered with sales administration office.
  • To review daily activities, promotions, sales, targets and other activities with Corporate Business Manager.
  • To ensure all payments for vehicles are completed and correct for each transaction, i.e. Clearance of outstanding hire purchase agreements and cheques forwarded for payment. Ensure approval of any new finance agreement.
  • To ensure safety and security of people, vehicles and property at all times, reporting any known faults or hazards.
  • To ensure utmost clarity in all contact with customers.
  • To ensure that customers needs are accurately qualified.
  • To establish and maintain a rapport with all potential and actual customers that enhances their image of the company.
  • To ensure the Sales Manager is aware of all transactions, proposals and personal whereabouts on all occasions.
  • To liaise with other Sales Executives to ensure availability of cover when demonstrating vehicles to customers.
  • To ensure all customers are notified of delays, changes in requirement and specification of vehicles outstanding, ensuring smooth conclusion of vehicle handover.

To participate in planning sales campaigns and promotions to maximise sale penetration.

To discuss any pricing policy changes affecting vehicle sales daily with Sales Manager.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

  • To be impeccable in personal appearance and hygiene.
  • To be capable of conversing with people in a lucid and pleasant manner.
  • To have the ability to qualify customers, overcome objections and close a sale.
  • To hold a clean driving licence.
  • To have up-to-date knowledge of vehicle legislation, consumer legislation and trade practices.
  • To be capable of accurate used vehicle valuation.
  • To be available at all times to affect a sale.
  • To be Available at all times for update training.
