Patrick started at Sweet 16!

The automotive trade is in my blood; my Grandad was CEO for Austin, Dodge and Peugeot in West Africa and that sounded absolutely amazing.

As soon as I could I was getting work experience in the industry, starting when I was 16 years old in the summer of 1999; I went to Ryland Honda, which was then on Blackfriars in Manchester and continued doing work experience there, on and off, until 2002.

Funnily enough the Manchester Honda franchise is now a Swansway site, a huge flagship dealership on Chester Road and Peter Bridgehouse, who helped me at the beginning, is still there at the new site.

I originally applied for the service advisor role at Crewe Volkswagen, but the HR Department thought they had a role I was better suited to and they put me forward for a new position in the Marketing department; Used Car Analyst.

Having now worked for three months in this new role, I can definitely say my time at Swansway has flown by. I’ve never been involved in Marketing before, so I’m glad that the recruitment process, led me this way, they were looking for skills and aptitude, rather than experience in the role and that really helped me.

Each day provides new challenges, with different objectives, keeping me focused on achieving new goals. The team all work in different specialist areas and I find the environment engaging, it keeps me on my toes!

My first three months at Swansway have been really enjoyable; everyone cares and everyone is there to help each other out which makes for a very productive day.
