Buying a used Audi TTS

Purchasing a second hand TTS is a great way to own a stylish sporty styled car within your budget, plus with so many options on the market you’re sure to find something you love.

There are two models in the Audi TTS range; TTS Coupé and TTS Roadster. The Coupé comes with a hard top sloped roof and the Roadster comes with a fold-down roof, we explore both models below.

Audi TTS Coupé

The TTS Coupé combines the iconic silhouette of the standard TT with the athletic power and dynamism of Audi’s S model. Packed with the latest tech and brilliant to drive, it is a beauty and a beast all in one.

Exterior design

The latest version of Audi’s TT has sharper looks to emphasise its increasingly sporting handling, and the upgrades to the TTS only add to this sportiness.

The TTS Coupé rides on beautiful 19-inch alloy wheels on suspension 10mm lower than a standard TT Coupé. There is an aggressive body styling package, black-painted brake callipers, and all-weather LED headlights, plus quad exhaust tailpipes with a luxurious chrome finish.

Interior design

Every time you sit inside the TTS Coupé feels like an event. It’s exquisitely crafted from premium materials, while the dashboard’s minimalist design emphasises that the focus is on driving.

There is a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel that you can adjust to find the perfect driving position, heated Super Sports seats in fine Nappa leather, and air conditioning. Stainless steel foot pedals make it feel like a true track-day race car.

In the back there’s a pair of cosy rear seats perfect for young passengers, and the rear hatchback opens to reveal a generously-sized boot that’s bigger than a Ford Fiesta’s. When you need the TTS to be carry larger loads, the rear seats split and fold to expand the boot space.

Performance

Fire up the 2.0 TFSI to stir its 306bhp and you’ll rarely look back at the road behind you. It thunders towards 60mph in less than five seconds, with a further 0.3 seconds shaved off if you opt for the six-speed S tronic gearbox.

Audi drive select means you can alter the driving manners of the TTS Coupé to suit your mood, subtly changing the throttle and steering responses. Select from five modes, including one you can personalise to suit your individual tastes, and the standard-fit Audi magnetic ride will adjust the firmness of the dampers to the current driving situation almost instantaneously.

Technology and safety

The TTS Coupé comes with an impressive Audi Virtual Cockpit, which replaces the traditional analogue dials with a crystal clear 12.3-inch TFT panel that displays everything from speed and revs to phone and audio information.

You can use both a rotary dial and touch-sensitive pad to control Audi’s MMI radio system. It’s Bluetooth®-enabled so you can pair your smartphone and stream music, while the uprated Audi sound system dots nine speakers around the cabin. Specify the optional Technology pack to get satellite navigation with detailed three-dimensional directions. A host of safety features come as standard, including front impact airbags, Cruise Control and a tyre pressure loss indicator. Audi lane assist will even help you stay in lane on motorways by making gentle steering corrections for you.

Audi TT RS Roadster

The Audi TTS Roadster combines the significant boost in engine power from the TTS with the pleasures of open-top motoring, making it even easier to hear the thrilling roar of its potent engine.

Exterior design

The latest TTS Roadster has sharper-than-ever looks to emphasise its sporting characteristics, as well as a practical and lightweight fabric roof that folds and disappears behind the driver in under 10 seconds. That roof can be specified in black, grey or beige, complemented by a number of stylish paint colours.

This TTS convertible is endowed with striking 19-inch alloy wheels on suspension 10mm lower than a standard TT Roadster. There is an aggressive body styling package, black-painted brake callipers with the TTS logo, and all-weather LED headlights, plus quad exhaust tailpipes with a glossy chrome finish.

Interior design

The TTS Roadsters’ interior certainly has the wow factor, with a minimalist design that emphasises that the focus is on driving. It is exquisitely well-built from premium materials, with a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel that you can adjust to find the perfect driving position, air conditioning and heated Super Sports seats in fine Nappa leather, with stainless steel foot pedals like you’d find on a racing car.

There’s a practically-shaped boot with ample space for your weekly food shop or a couple of weekend bags, making it perfectly practical if the TTS Roadster is your only car. For further practicality, an optional wind deflector can be specified to reduce draughts with the roof down. A microphone can even be added to the driver’s seatbelt so you can still be heard while taking calls with the roof down.
