All-New Audi e-tron S

The electric car, injected with Audi DNA.

It was only a matter of time before Audi introduced a more powerful version of its fully electric e-tron, and here it is - the e-tron S.

What is the Audi e-tron S?

Gaining an additional electric motor - now up to three rather than the standard e-tron’s two - means that this S model gets genuine performance yet can still return well over 200 miles from a single charge. There’s a lot to talk about here, so let’s dive straight in and see what this latest electric Audi model is all about.

What does the Audi e-tron S Interior look like?

We’ve no qualms with the standard e-tron’s cabin, so it’s a relief to see that the interior of the S model remains largely unchanged over the regular car’s. It’s a seriously well made place to be, with plenty of high quality materials and a variety of high-definition screens combining to create an environment which feels genuinely premium. It’s what you’d expect from Audi, in fact.

But the fundamentals are still good. There’s plenty of interior space, seating for five and a reasonably large boot too. It means that if you do want to use your e-tron S everyday, you can.

How does the Audi e-tron S look?

The exterior of the S model is largely similar to that of the standard e-tron. However, the arches have been widened to give the car a more muscular stance while it sits on 21-inch wheels as standard.

Of course, in keeping with other S models there are a variety of S-specific badges dotted across the car’s exterior, while the virtual mirrors mean that the sides of the car remain uncluttered in appearance. Like other Audi models, it’s available in a sleeker Sportback configuration too.

How does the performance of the Audi e-tron S compare to the e-tron?

It’s on the performance side of things where the e-tron S really pulls no punches. Thanks to 496bhp and 973Nm of torque from its triple motor setup, this large SUV will manage the zero to 60mph dash in under 4.5 seconds before topping out at 130mph. It’s an impressive claim for a car of this size.

Despite this performance, Audi claims that it’ll do up to 229 miles from a single charge.

What technology is in the Audi e-tron S?

Beyond its rather special powertrain, the e-tron S is bristling with technology. The interior features an ultra-wide central screen, and it’s here where you’ll access key features such as satellite navigation, media functions and a host of car settings. It’s simple to use, easy to get up to speed with and great to look at too. It’s combined with Audi’s Virtual Cockpit to create a very high-tech look.

There’s also the aforementioned virtual mirrors, which replace the traditional wing mirrors for a combination of cameras and screens. They take a little getting used to, but they’re clear and easy to adjust to after a while.

What trim levels are available on Audi e-tron S?

There’s just one trim level available with the e-tron S to begin with. Matrix LED headlights come fitted as standard, sitting alongside the previously mentioned high-definition screens in a long list of included equipment.

There’s also a full S-specific styling package which brings a redesigned spoiler, side sill and rear bumper, while adjustable air suspension is included too. You also get full sport seats trimmed in leather.
