Smartly fashioned and very well-equipped, the 308 GT comes with a fine pair of engines and offers an extremely comfortable ride. If you want a hatchback that delivers more, the 308 GT is definitely worth considering.
The stylish 308 GT features an imposing front-end that comprises a chrome-trimmed upper grille flanked by sleek wraparound headlights. Below, a body-coloured bumper is positioned above an expansive lower grille, with air intakes on either side trimmed with black lacquer. Among a range of exterior features are electric folding door mirrors encased in high-gloss black shells, featuring integrated courtesy lighting. LED illumination includes indicators, automatic headlamps, daytime running lights and rear lamps.
Peugeot’s Open & Go system enables keyless entry to the 308, as well as push-button start of the engine. A sporty cabin features a Mistral Nappa leather steering wheel, embellished with red stitching and the GT badge. This same stitching also adorns the car’s sports seats, which are upholstered in half-ersatz leather, half-Alcantara. Other standard features include height and lumbar-adjustable front seats, an automatic parking brake, automatic dual-zone climate control and electric windows.
A 1.6-litre 202bhp engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, enabling the vehicle to go from 0-60mph in approximately 7.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 146mph. Alternatively, a 2.0-litre 177bhp option, mated to six-speed automatic transmission, returns as much as 70.6mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 103g/km.
Dab digital radio is included, as are Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity. Also included is a 9.7-inch touchscreen that offers, among other things, full-colour output from the vehicle’s front and rear parking cameras.
The 308 GT comes with Euro NCAP’s highest safety rating – a full five stars. Driver aids include Dynamic Cruise Control, Emergency Collision Alert, Emergency Collision Braking System, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Emergency Braking Assistance and Electronic Stability Programme. Passive safety features include multiple airbags and three-point inertia-reel seatbelts.
An ultrasonic alarm, deadlocks and locking wheel nuts are in place, helping to keep the vehicle secure.
