Jay found his love

It feels like I’ve come a long way… I left school at 16 and started work as a joiner, earning £50 a week and walking 6 miles a day to and from work; I couldn’t afford the Bus as £50 didn’t go far!

At 20 I started working for BT Cellnet as a Mobile internet Advisor, back then the internet on your phone was called WAP and all you could on your phone was play the Snake game!

Then came the game-changer; a friend said I’d be great at selling cars and told me to apply for a job in car Sales at Bolton Toyota, I was 22 and that was it, I’d found ‘my’ job, I loved the buzz of the dealership...people say car sales is in your blood and I would have to agree.

Four years later I was made Sales Manager and that was even better; I found that I loved managing people, re-defining processes and most importantly ensuring the presentation in showroom and pitch are spot on and immaculate. It may sound sad, but I love Used Cars!

I then moved to Johnsons Toyota, Southport, as General Sales Manager. It was a lovely place with great people, but not fast paced enough for me, so I decided to move on and was ready to start my new job, when I got a call off my old Sales Manager Andrew Wakelin. I came in for a chat, discussed the old days and then the job in hand. My passion for cars matched Andrew’s, so I knew we’d make a great team.

As soon as I pulled up at Swansway Chester Peugeot, walked in and spoke to Andrew, I knew Swansway was the right choice for me. The people are amazing to work with, everyone has a very can-do attitude; they’re focused and passionate about delivering great customer service. Decisions are made swiftly and as a family owned business everything filters down, as it should do, to the relevant staff.

It’s also great to have two Mums.... Maggie in Sales Admin is my work Mum and has been a great help in learning systems and finding new cars for me; thanks Maggie!

I have so many highlights over my time at Swansway; the first quarter of 2016 is definitely be up there, with the sales team’s brilliant performance and the hard work from Julian Gorbert in Finance.

Customer satisfaction has improved massively since I started; we’ve been upper quartile ever and I feel as if we are truly are delighting our customers.

I look forward to many more great years with Swansway.
