Cambelt Replacement from £455

A snapped cambelt is no joke, particularly when you see the bill for rebuilding your engine.

What is a cambelt?

A cambelt is a rubber toothed belt that links the crankshaft to the camshaft. It coordinates and regulates the opening of the inlet andexhaust valves to optimise the engine performance for both economy and power.

What happens if it is not regularly maintained?

The economy and power of your engine will be affected over time. If failure of the cambelt were to occur it could result in significant damage to the engine, and a very high cost.

What if I'm unsure whether my cambelt has been replaced or not?

Look in your service book. If your camshaft timing belt (to give it its full name) was replaced by a Audi Authorised Repairer, it should be recorded in the service history.

Why is it important to maintain the cambelt?

A cambelt is one of the hardest working components in an engine. It should be replaced in good time to prevents snaps, cracks and tears which, in turn, minimises the risk of major engine damage.

How often should it be maintained?

Your cam belt needs changing when it reaches the age or mileage limit recommended by Audi UK.

What happens when we service your cam belt?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to carry out a quick visual inspection of cambelt condition. To gain access to the belt, parts of the engine have to be dismantled. During a cambelt change we strip down the relevant components of the engine and renew the belt and cambelt tensioner. Then we reassemble the engine and road-test your vehicle before recording it in your service book.

Swansway Audi will also perform a complimentary health check of your vehicle. Our trained technicians will visually inspect the major safety related components of your car.
