Power meets poise in the RS Q3 by Audi. A potent 2.5-litre TFSI engine elevates the Q3 SUV to sports car territory, marrying family car practicality with blistering performance in an irresistible package.
The RS Q3 retains the sporty coupé-like silhouette of the Q3, but turns up the volume with aggressive styling tweaks. Greedy front air intakes signal its intent, gulping up huge lungfuls of oxygen that it can spit back out from the chrome-covered exhaust.
Attention-demanding 20-inch alloy wheels and privacy glass for the rear windows complete the overall impression of power.
As with other RS models from Audi, power is at the core of this car’s design. The richly-appointed cabin is testament to this, with RS design cues liberally used throughout – starting with the racing-inspired flat-bottomed steering wheel. Leather and Alcantara-trimmed sports seats will ensure you are comfortable no matter how fast you sweep through the bends, while a bespoke driver’s information system offers a special menu with a lap timer and other track-day features.
The retractable six and a half-inch display screen is used to navigate these and other menus, including connections for your iPhone or Bluetooth®-connected smartphone. Satellite navigation will help you reach your destination on time, with voice controls and a three and a half-inch TFT display housed in the instrument binnacle that combine to help you keep your eyes and hands where they need to be.The RS Q3 is powered by a 2.5-litre TFSI petrol engine that has claimed five wins at the International Engine of the Year Awards. It’s available in two states of tune, with 335bhp as standard or 361bhp in uprated ‘Performance’ spec – and both feature a seven-speed S tronic gearbox.
Both versions incorporate fuel-saving Start-Stop technology and energy recuperation technology to improve fuel-efficiency, giving them both an official rating of 32.8mpg on the combined cycle.
Of course, Audi’s celebrated quattro all-wheel drive system is a must to ensure all of that power can be transferred to the road, while a special high-performance braking system will help ensure you stop just as effectively.
The standard Q3 has received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, with a clutch of airbags protecting passengers from both frontal and side impacts in the event of a collision.
Bright all-weather LED headlights and an automatic powered tailgate that opens when you wave your foot under the rear of the car are among the many thoughtful innovations included in every RS Q3. A tyre pressure loss indicator will alert you if you experience a slow puncture, while a graphic parking assistance system will help you achieve your perfect parallel park.
Cruise Control comes as standard on Performance models, making longer journeys even more comfortable.
