Positioned between the compact A1 and the generous A4 you will find the A3, one of Audi’s most versatile cars. Quintessentially practical, the A3 is large enough for days out with the family and convenient enough for nipping across the city. All trim levels come with luxurious features, bringing a sense of indulgence to your everyday drives.
With distinctive Audi looks, the A3 is elegant yet muscular. Its front profile is marked by the expansive pentagonal grille. Angular headlights either side of the grille draw the eye along a sculpted contour which runs along the side of the car towards the tailgate lights. A sharper contour runs lower down on the side, creating a dramatic edge. It may have a strong look, but the A3 is a compact car with three doors. Small in size but big in personality, it has twin exhaust tailpipes, Xenon headlights (with LED daytime running lights) and LED side indicators on the mirrors.
Designed with comfort in mind, all trim levels have a central armrest in the front, a multifunction Sport steering wheel and interior lighting. The SE and the SE Technik variants have air conditioning, while the two most luxurious trim levels, the Sport and the S line, have dual-zone climate control. A seven-inch retractable colour MMI screen is positioned in the middle of the dashboard for easy use of the DAB digital radio, the CD player and phone connectivity. In all but the SE, this MMI screen also has inbuilt satellite navigation.
True to the model’s versatility, the A3 comes with a wide choice of engines. Petrol variants range from 1.0 to 2.0-litres and have turbo fuel stratified injection technology making them more fuel-efficient. The most powerful in the petrol range is the 2.0-litre which will take you from 0-60mph in approximately eight seconds. Two diesel engines are on offer, the 1.6-litre and the 2.0-litre, both of which have turbocharged direct injection systems to reduce their CO2 emissions. If you choose a 2.0-litre engine, you can opt for all-wheel drive.
As a family car, the A3 has a number of safety features as standard. Advanced Electronic Stability Control helps to keep all four wheels firmly on the ground when travelling fast. This system includes Anti-lock Braking and Anti-Slip Regulation to help you come to a stop safely. To make your drive that bit more relaxing, all trim levels come with cruise control as standard and if you choose the SE Technik, you can enjoy the handy convenience of rear parking sensors.
